Summer Solstice Blessings!

The Summer Solstice/Midsummer/Litha is tomorrow and is one of our eight Sabbats. For us, summer starts at Beltane (May 1st) . The Summer Solstice is when we celebrate the God (Sun) being at the peak of his manhood (he is at his strongest point as the sun is as close to us as it will get this year), come Saturday, the sun will start to move away from us, the sun will get weaker and the God begins to die once again. The summer solstice is a time of magic and faeries. The fey (faeries) will be out celebrating tomorrow evening :) I am having a small group of friends over for a late night faerie picnic under the big Maple Tree and we are reading a Midsummer Night Dream :) I always find the Summer Solstice a little sad, as it  means the God is dying once again; come Samhain (Halloween) we'll be wishing him farewell again. The Pagan year is a wheel, ever turning and repeating. The God is reborn every Yule, grows to manhood by the Summer Solstice and then dies every Samhain. We can only have new life through death - everything must die to be reborn, so the God dies each year so new life will come - it is his sacrifice for us.

Have a Blessed Summer Solstice!
