Pan

The Great God Pan

The goat legged, cloven footed, horned Greek God Pan is best known for his role as God and protector of Shepherds and flocks, yet that is just one of his many titles. He is he of the wild places and of the forests and mountains, he who causes fear and panic in the hearts of men and beast. He is life and death and he who plays his reed pipes to call the north winds. Pan has the power to inspire lust, creativity and foreknowledge and is the panic felt when one finds themselves in dark lonely places. The word Pan means all.

Fall Pan Tribute

This is our Fall Pan Tribute. We've done it every year for about 7 years. Everyone participating brings along a bottle of an alcoholic drink for the toasts. When each person does their toast, they share a bit of the drink with the Faeries, and then share their drink with each person in the circle. This ritual entails a lot of drinking so it is not child appropriate. When people do their toasts they are always welcome to tribute Pan with a song, dance, poem etc, if they'd like.

We've learned through experience that no cream drinks are allowed (Like Baileys etc.)  and we now use plastic wine glasses for the toast as glass breaks too easy.

Welcome friends, tonight we come together in the spirit of passion and joy, to tribute the Great God Pan! Please leave all negativity and inhibitions behind, allow yourself to be free and open, abandon shyness and hang-ups. Relax and enjoy! Let only those of their own free will join us and pleas come with only love and joy in your hearts!

Welcome Friends, please be at leisure around the fire. Let the flames warm your skin and relax you. Let go of the mundane world. Here in the circle you are safe. Let go of the rules of society. Here, we are no longer part of their world. We are free of their rules and ridicule. We are here to Tribute Pan and nothing else matters. We are free.

Thrill with lissom lust of light
O’ Pan, O’ Pan
Come careering out of the night
O’ Pan, O’ Pan
Pan, Pan come over sea
From Sicily and from Arcardy!
Roaming with Bacchus with fauns and pards
And nymphs and Satyrs as they guards
On cloven feet, come over sea!
Come great God, to me, to me!

O’ Great Horned God, the longest past
Lord of the hunt, Lord of the dance
Across the mountains, the fields, the sand
Be once more upon this land!
O” Great Horned God, of times gone by
Lord of the Earth, of joy and mirth
Of the forest and of the glade
Be with us now and for all our days
Pan, Pan, O’ Great God Pan
Be once more upon this land!

(LIGHT PAN CANDLE)

Please all sit and be comfortable.

Let us all come up to the Altar one by one and call Pan to join us. Please feel free to make your call silently  for just Pan to hear, or loudly for all to hear. As you await your turn please feel free to drum and dance and enjoy.

(EACH PERSON COME UP TO THE ALTAR ONE BY ONE AND CALLS PAN IN THEIR OWN WAY)

The dark of the year is upon us. The trees have grown barren and the world falls asleep as the days grow colder and darker. Most of the Fey have left us, seeking warmer climates for the winter months.

Here we stand, together again, to raise our voice, our glasses and our hearts to the Great God Pan. And though the north wind bites, we will stay warm this winter wrapped in his passions, his vigour and his life. When the winter is darkest, we will dream of days when we will once again walk with him through the wild green woods. This dreams will sustain us and give us strength.

Tonight, we come not to say good-bye to our Horned God, for he is ever with us. But to thank him for the glorious spring, summer and fall he blessed us with. To Hail his name so it is heard throughout the universe and our love for him is felt for all!

ALL Hail the Great God Pan!

Let all the toasts, laughter and joy of the night be dedicated to Pan! Let the toasts begin!

(EVERYONE WILL COME UP ONE BY ONE AND MAKE THEIR TOAST)

Great Pan, thank thee for they presence this eve!
You are joy and sorrow, love and hate, courage and fear
You are all and everything!
All Hail the Great God Pan!

Let us thank the quarters

EAST: Hail! Element of air! Thank thee for joining us this eve, May our imagination bring us naughty pleasures! Blessed be!
